Here are some sodalite pics. This sodalite came from two sources, a local rock shop and the Rock Shed. The sodalite looked the same from both, so I just mixed them. I think I started out with 3 lbs, but I put it through coarse grind with agates and other hard stuff, which really ate these up, so I ended up with under a pound of polished stones in the end... oops. After 60/90, the sodalite was tumbled with stuff about Mohs 6 hardness. I think sodalite is only Mohs 5-5.5, so I was surprised that these turned out as well as they did. Like rose quartz and amethyst rough, sodalite rough tends to have an awful lot of fractures, and it's impossible to tumble these out. I realize that the fractures help enhance the blue colour, but my personal preference is for the deeper blue stones in the batch that don't have fractures. These went 2 or 3 weeks in coarse, 1 week in each of 120/220, 500, and Tripoli, then 8 days in CPP polish. Thanks for looking!

WOW What gorgeous stones and what a beautiful shine. You did fantastic. I so want to try some of them, I think they'd be beautiful wrapped in sterling.

I have some sodalite, but it's more white than blue - wonder if there are different types per region maybe?
Love the colors

Excellent shine on the sodalite. I'm with you, I like the really dark stone. They shaped very nicely, too. Did you use a vibe for coarse? Gonna have to get me some CPP one of these days.

Wow great job on those. I love sodalite.
My first batch didn't come out so great but I'd like to try a pure load on it next time.
