I have the stock 2” Lortone expando wheel on the LU6-X, just got quite a few new belts in from Kingsley North, and I’m having trouble.
When it’s spinning free the paper is loose on the drum so it vibrates on the rock. With more pressure, the vibration goes away, but the belt wildly scoots from side to side depending what angle or which side I am working. Do I need new foam? Thanks for your help.

I cut a strip of rubber sheeting the width of the drum & as long as the circumference of the drum. I fitted it around the drum before I slipped the belt on. It takes up the space so the belt doesn't slip.
I use diamond belts and have a drum for each belt, so I'm not swapping belts often. If you swap belts, you could glue the rubber sheeting to the drum with temporary rubber cement (like Borden's in a brown bottle).
You may need more than a single layer.
Home Depot sells as pond liner by the foot. A friend re-roofed his RV with rubber sheet that was similar to pond liner. Lynn

I didn't have the problem a few years ago Too much Starting back up- I have it bad. But my belts are old weather worn And the expando as been sitting for a few years I just bought a new 400 grit S/C and the problem not as bad If at all The one thing that as helped a lot is to make sure the machine is level Mine was out of kilter. I used a level and used some rock wedges to level it up. Helped a lot! So I’m hoping new belts are the answer. I like that rubber cement sheet trick Been thinking of something like that I have to use the resources I have. My local jewelry supply house just closed for the virus. Uuuugghh. So getting new belts will have to wait till next season God luck with that , Evan. Make sure the machine is level. And If you find the solution let us know . In the meantime I play the chase the typewriter carriage while sanding. Ya get good at it! Mostly

strange tho Evan that with new belts there that loose that they spin around the expando never had that problem
Altho, I use inexpensive S/C black belt not much experience with diamond belts
Let us know if anyone figured your a good candidate ///
I've also considered using some double sided tape just on the edge

It’s just the low cost SiC belts from Kingsley. I’ll try replacing the rubber.

Exact-Span vs Expando - they're different drums, For 8" drums, they take different sized belts. Not sure about 6"?
