Here's a couple pictures of a 1/2 pound South Texas Rio Moss Agate that I finished a couple weeks ago. The pictures do not quite capture the depth of the Moss floating in the clear agate; I am not sure what the embedded discoloration on the right side of the Agate, maybe an internal fracture, some of the Moss is in front of it; IMG_1649 by Findrocks, on Flickr The other side; IMG_1653 by Findrocks, on Flickr I have several more 1/2 to 2 pound Rio's that are in the queue. As I always say, so many rocks, so little time!!

Great job on that, it’s a beauty! I don’t see any pitting either.

Great job on that, it’s a beauty! I don’t see any pitting either. Well, thanks to good positioning in the pictures, the pitting is hidden. In the 2nd picture under my thumb. It was a bit too deep to grind or tumble out so I left it. Except for those pits, the rock was a good example of river-tumbled agate.

I am sucker for the Rio agates and that's really a beauty. Me too. When I made the run up to Rusk a few weeks ago I was on the lookout for any I saw. Picked up another 10 to 12 of them. Probably have almost a bucket full now. They will all be tumbled, Good Lord willing and the Creeks don't rise!!. Being so river rounded already they are a lot easier to tumble than most of the other agate I have. They also make the perfect Big to increase grinding. That and as Jim has pointed out many times, the variety is over the top.

Wow! I guess I am going to have to make my way South to Texas to pick up some moss agate. That is a cool looking rock with lots of color and I can imagine the depth of the moss in the stone, which has some transparency. Neat looking stuff! Thanks for sharing!
