Bought a poly aubor with a split sanding wheel and flat disk with cracked rubber. . Want to install an expandable drum, but drum recess too deep and rubs against hearing housing. I suppose a spacer between the bearing & expandable drum will work? ONe side has a grinding wheel I plan to use diamond wheels. Haven't taken off the wheel yet. appears to be a regular grinder.

I suppose the flat disk takes a glue-on leather piece?

You should be able to put an expando drum on it, most likely a spacer will do it.
You can replace the rubber as it is just glued on to the disc, use contact adhesive when you put the new one on. You can use felt, canvas, or leather on the disc, it is just personal preference. If you want it permanent then use contact adhesive, if you want to be able to change it then use feathering adhesive and it will peel back off when you want to change it.
