I got an about 4 pound piece of faced rough on ebay. I cut off the pointy part and then two not very good slices. I'm getting 6 large slabs including a 3/8 inch still on the board. Each slice got better. Not drool worthy but I am pleased.

Rocks can sure be surprising. I took the lower left slab and drew three shapes. I noticed that some of the grey material had fractures and avoided those areas. Two of the three preforms fractured on the saw. I redrew them with a smaller shape and they fractured again. The one that didn't fracture seems to have healed fracture lines that I noticed in the photograph. I tried to break the preform with my finger but it held together. I found a scrap of Blue Tide and put a shape on it. It will also be trouble.

Unfortunate, but Noreena is pretty well known to be cracky. When you do get a piece that doesn't crack the cabs are awesome!

Noreena always gets my attention. Good looking!
Never heard of the Blue Tide. Tell me about it. That grabbed my attention, too. Thanks.
