A huge thanks to those who are still employed and/or others doing what they can to help others.
Health care workers. Law enforcement. Fire department employees. Retail workers. Trucking firms/individuals. USPS, FedEx, UPS, etc. Farmers. Food processing plants. Assisted living employees. Day care providers. Restaurants. Those in local government. Road repair crews. Utilities. Home repair businesses. Musicians with remote concerts. Manufacturers who have switched gears to make PPE devices. Individuals making PPE's. Those working to find a cure or vaccine for COVID 19. Not for profit organizations sharing local resources with others.
If you see something I missed, please add it.
In many ways the USA has come together in a time of crisis.

In many ways the USA has come together in a time of crisis. My DH is still working. He is considered essential, although I don't know how. But, thanks anyway. In a lot of ways, I'd rather he be home. The only thing I can think of is that Stihl is one of Va Bch's largest employers. I guess it would be too big a hit on the financials of the city for it to shut down.
One thing I would like to see is some of the camaraderie of other countries, such as Italy with the balcony singing and India rallying behind their leader and meeting calls to clap and bang at certain times or light a light at a certain time. The Queen of England gave a nice fireside chat, to rally the English, too. Yes, we are a huge diverse country, but just think how cool it would be if we were to arrange some national response by the people.

Yes fernwood, we are in “shutdown” but really we’re a long way from it. Our mail and packages arrive in a fairly timely fashion. Thanks to all! ETA: The kid in me giggled when our governor said “P-P-P” multiple times in one of his earlier updates.

Queen of England was already broadcasting in 1940! And wow her voice is still very clear and steady.

rockjunquie Not a National response for some, but helpful for others. Saturdays, at 3:00 PM, there are Jump Arounds occurring across the country and world. Anyone familiar with college football knows about the Wisconsin Badger tradition of having a jump around between the 3rd and 4th quarters of games. The UW band plays songs and spectators jump in the bleachers. Here are details on the updated version of the Jump Around. There is live streaming music via internet. It is also broadcast on select radio stations. People are encouraged to get outside, play the music and jump around. This past Saturday the response was overwhelming. People from around the world participated. Even if they were not capable of jumping or going outside, some participated by staying inside and moving their hands/arms. It is estimated that over 1/2 million people participated this last Saturday.

The Queen of England gave a nice fireside chat . . . Yeah, but did she beat ‘The Bachelor’ finale?

A huge vote of appreciation to the 2400+ members of the Wisconsin National Guard who served as Poll Workers yesterday in WI.
