So, Now that I have the trim saw running, I have run into an unforeseen problem. My 8 year old got ahold of it, and has been cutting literally every rock she can find. I've got some slabs I was saving for myself, and she's run through about 1/2 of those. Nice agate slabs, reduced to shreds. Petwood, in pieces. Gem dino bone, fortunately still hidden.
Does anyone, maybe one of you slab saw people, have any low-quality slabs you'd like to part with? Something you slabbed a while back, that didn't turn out as nice as you'd anticipated, and is now just taking up space? Msg me if you have anything you'd be willing to part with cheap or free with me paying shipping. Again, it doesn't have to be anything nice, just stuff that an 8-year old would be able to practice making pre-forms or free hand cuts on.

I have been getting slabs for over 15 years, so I have a a ton (not 2,000 pounds, less than 50) of stuff I don't need.

My young one drastically reduced the life of the MK blade by using unreasonable force with Montana agate chunk.

Once this lockdown is over I should be able to use the club’s slab saw. But we need stuff to do now, and have plenty of time at home to play with rocks!

Can you tumble any of the slab remnants? How large are they?
I could send a nicer slab of pet wood for you and some other "practice" materials. You would need to go through the practice stuff and pick out what you felt was too nice to practice on.

Thank you again to everyone who mailed slabs! I really appreciate it, and Addie is over the moon. Tonight she cut a geode and a jasper circle preform using a template. She was thrilled.

If anyone has more to get ride of I'll be open to taking about box or two. Pay you for them and shipping of course. Been tumbling for years and had stopped when I moved back to PA 4 years ago. Now with the lock down I dug all my stuff out and have 8 barrels going now. Helps to relax me after my work day, David
