I slabbed a 2 pound faced piece. I haven't slabbed it before. The material is brecciated so there will be fractures, partially healed fractures and healed fractures. I try to stay from healed and partially healed so I marked them as they came off the saw. From one piece of rock there is a lot of changes in color

Love brecciated stones. That’s a pretty one. Lots of color. Thanks.

Lots of color but looks like a lot of waste. Does only the junk rock make it to market?

Mascalero is with out a doubt a hard stone to get nice slabs from but the cabs made from this material is world class

I bought a small slab of Blue Dream at full moon. It had fractures but got 3 preforms and made one cab. I bought 2 slabs from Altamont. One was exceptionally clean and the other had significant fractures. The rough piece is very fractured. I won't treat it and will avoid all fractures and partially healed fractures. The only issue is what I can get for a cab. Since it's a hobby for me I should get enough cabs to more than pay for the material. I don't pay myself a wage other than the enjoyment of making stuff.

This one is 6 inches in width. The pictures matched up well with the actual slab and should have a very good yield. I'm better off buying slabs.
