I took the trim saw to recent arrivals. I can do a good job buying slabs from pictures but rough is another matter. I got two small pieces of Morgan Hill rough on ebay for $12, slabbed them and got 6 preforms. I spent $50 on two pounds of Mescalero rough and the Morgan Hill will produce more revenue than the Mescalero. Morgan Hill, Mecalero (first 3 from a slab last from the rough), Owyhee from Tony, Blue Mountain ( I saw two cabs from the slab; one for sure and one possible and the possible fractured. Deschutes from rock2ust.

Yes buying rough is a real crap shoot. Even more so when you can't handle and examine the rough before you buy. I rarely buy the expensive rough because I have been burned. I also stick to a few sellers because they consistently describe the problems with the rough and seem to provide better quality for the dollar.

Small Deschutes rough from rocks2dust. The last piece was a freebie. Ok, dark and no way.

The trim saw is officially on lockdown. I have over 30 trimmed preforms to work on.
