Created this thread with rockjunquie in mind, but if anyone out there has seen Ocean Jasper like this we'd like to hear more about it.
This chunk had quartz sandwiched between a couple of muddy tan colored layers with tiny green orbs in them. But it had some orbs in the quartz. I have limited experience with OJ, so this surprised me. I'm thinking this was a chunk that somehow escaped being thrown back in the ocean... .
Still very cool to me, since I've never seen any like it. A little tester chip that broke off a slab held together and polished up nicely. Has some water-clear areas in it, but overall it looks like someone flash-froze a glass of alka seltzer. Strange rock... .

I have seen some like it. Not much, though. I had a small piece once, but it wasn't workable - only because of the small size and shape. I've had some with green quartz that held together well. I really love how the jasper cogwheels stand out in the quartz. Looks like you can get a few nice cabs from that.

That is beautiful. I love how the rays are emitting from the little "bubbles".

I found a few small pieces like this in an old (1970's) box of rocks. They are currently in storage with all my other ready-to-cut stuff. I recall that it is much softer in the areas between the orbs - seemed like the small quartz crystals didn't quite knit together. Not sure if this is common with the white stuff since I only have a few cab-size pieces.

Thanks for the input. Today I took pics of the tester "cab". Didn't really bother with shaping, just smoothed it out enough to see if it would polish.
Showing the clear areas.
Druze at bottom center and lower right side!
The back - with a nice orb there.
I was just happy it held together. More optimistic now about the slabs.

That is highly contagious covid 20 OJ. Please seal in hazmat container. And call 1-800 -@hookedonrocks For free disposal. (If no Hazmat container available? A USPS Lfrb Will Suffice)
Place on your porch, and run and hide

We DO have your address... .
If any unsolicited packages show up on your front porch I'd suggest donning at least a Level C suit before going outside.

I almost would prefer that one "rough" It sure is a kind of strange piece of OJ. The whole chunk was loaded with drusy. I'm going to try and cut a stone from one of the slabs Vince cut and see how it turns out. The little scrap piece he used to experiment on isn't big enough to really tell what it will look like polished.
