Got a question for all you pros!!! So I dont recall tumbling tigers eye before and I had some in a small batch of saw scraps and when I took it out I found something I’d never seen on a stone. The corner was wet and mushy and felt like wet wood or saw dust. I thought maybe it was grit at first but it was actually attached to the stone and peeled off almost like string cheese. Sorry for the weird comparisons but it’s all I could think of. Anyone seen this before and can share with me what it was? heres a picture of the soft stuff here’s the damage it left after I peeled it.

Perhaps asbestos fibers. It’s what gives tiger eye the eye.

Perhaps asbestos fibers. It’s what gives tiger eye the eye. That’s interesting but makes enough sense to me. I never thought of such a soft material being part of a rock and then just peeling off like that. I guess I’m glad the whole stone wasn’t that soft.
