Alright, this was my first attempt at cutting slab and it's not that easy, especially at a machine with a splash guard that has so much oil splashing on it that you can't hardly see what you're doing and it didn't have a vice that feeds the rock so I had to do it all by hand (my thumb sure hurt when I was done)..........LOL But anyway, I didn't have anything really special to cut like all the fancy and neat stuff that I see on the board here. I just had some stuff that I found locally so I went at it and thought I'd share some pics. I wish they would have come out better but we had a really cloudy day today so I took them under the kitchen light Let me know what you think and if you have and ID's on stuff, do let me know. I just know that some of it is Agate but that's about it. Oh and the third picture, that's the mexican lace.

Looks like you had a very productive day. They're all very pretty. Trish

Wow I like the first on the right of the third pic - that must have been a surprise to see that inside!

I cut it all at a friend's house and she has a Lortone saw, not sure exactly what kind. It not one that has legs, more like a table top saw type of deal that has the undercarriage with the oil in it. It has a sort of vice on it but it doesn't seem to work and it's more of a hassle than anything so I had to hold all the pieces. Still can't get them quite thin enough though You know that first one in the picture came out rather green but it's actually more of an earthy tone beige color Thanks for the complement. I feel good now knowing that I didn't do too bad for my first try

i think you did extremely well considering you had to hold it and slab it. how long did it take to cut these? what size are the rocks?

thank you Kim. it took me about 5-10 minutes to cut through each, if that. They ranged from 1" in diameter to about 3". Not very big stuff. I cut lots of little stuff that I can only make one cab out of but a few that will make 2 cabs Thanks for the complement. I have to admit, praise keeps me going when someone else tells me it's good as I suffer from depression and a lack of self esteem. So thank you very much. You guys just make my days when I come on here and someone has something nice to say, which you all always do Thanks for letting me be part of the group
