I'm doing some more facing waiting for the glue to dry. I have had not much success with WC rough; fractures and almost all matrix. I'm not disappointed with this one. I'll add the slabs I cut to this topic.

Nice! Very atypical, though. But cool.

I'm not doing a good job with the thickness; one a little thin, another way too thick and an uneven one on the board. All usable.

I did a binary search on the first piece pictured and ended up with two usable slices closest to the face. The other small slabs were from multiple small pieces of rough. Like gold mining; going through a lot of crud to get a few "nuggets".

I have found the smaller nodules of willow creek hold better patterns, or maybe the big ones have all been taken by you? nice cuts!

Still cutting but it looks like 9 pounds of rock equals 3 pounds (I wish) of slabs. The largest piece was junk and another larger piece was mostly matrix with a small nugget of jasper. They will be buried together. I will be cutting two medium pieces of nice WC, but they would have more value as slabs. I buy to make cabs not slabs.
I like cab patterns not slab patterns. I want a cab to tell a story. The third slab pictured is really pretty and I'm going to complete slabbing it but I'm not seeing any cabs with an interesting story.

This small piece of rough has the nicest colors and patterns of all the rough. It came loose from the vise and I set up the trim saw to complete the cut when I was doing some preforms. I glued it to a block and will slab tomorrow. I slabbed one of the medium pieces that didn't seem interesting on the outside. Boring and pits except for one small area that is worth keeping. I'll trim it off and toss the rest.

Except for the small piece of rough above, I'm done slabbing the WC. This is one of the pieces that made be bid on the item. Very pretty material, but I'm not inspired. hookedonrocks would know what to do with it.

Almost 80 today and the slab was sitting in the sun so I got impatient. The facing cut went fine and the rock came off the board on the first cut so I finished the cut on the trim saw. All of the Willow Creek is now slabbed. This and two preforms is what I got from 9 pounds of rough:

I should get a lot of cabs. I only have a small scale so I weighed the slabs in small groups and totaled 36 ounces.
