What is my major malfunction? Linked some photos to this thread: forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/thread/91321/latest-load and I can see them, and it appears the first viewer saw them, then <poof> they seem to be invisible. Any problems linking to Google Photos? Thanks!

Any problems linking to Google Photos? Yes. Google Photos does not play nice with hot linking. A working image link (hot link) must go the actual URL of the image and end with an image extension (ie: .jpg .png .gif, etc.) The code for the image you posted looks like this and it is not an image URL. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/gbK_RRrNZVpzwYJ2qhOdbVEuWUElZkAWnj4B92MVqDu-LM74GjO7w_lvw86weiM- nODz8pLWiSc30bo6H1yBEm2bBxVqTLR6V0Z006bHVQuWMOYth4CAo0KQS2UdrcYef5mfcWTSzRTG4DNdtR_5fODovIAlEjxXJyPX_tW7DgAa-ZudsKYkW- YX735aljfLIaf5iKObGJ6wL6OmZo2WUTM37kyGQeFIcJwPIn4Ap_c8hyQqsPvGd42UystZSLvQ-_jytsztb5BJiu7YoycTEpJRymoU7PBQMd9- 0F56Perh3GAju5XKXcj6NaUmfI1x5yQMyM73u5d5yr5CoRmH-7hrvAnDwSI6p0auNcGi2k7pYD2s71M1ix1E8GQbpC1oQl6PRQ-- YToP1N3vbYMoRwX6O7ft9MYnhkpSiYPIVYdwbgLlObH3urf_Kqni3_bp6EtcfUZ-NbXRbU3ExU0FxJY5TDZxkJozt9N9s6hOy0TSXGSDgyoqtiNc0JJXdriwAYYvru_mejLKFNLQdKDlLH0- zR8Mg5gw_9nCYjCUme00C5Q7OFbr_uMp9Pd_3vdJ0kpMyPcClAkNX3mwb_F4iZ0T7hiEElwhA7s4WhluKnkG35h962wi7a_22w2Z2- MmBbxGYAXJpT1KOrKMC5_rFsZsR7nS9qc4vfc7TtmI_eXZJBaAmBzjR0lRPbNlA8eANA=s1250-w1250-h937-no

That being said - I've tried several times to figure out how to force Google Photos to give an actual URL to a photo but I've been unable to get it done. They are all about "album sharing" etc.
If anyone else knows how to get a photo URL from Google Photos please chime in.

yeah I tried a year or so back and gave up... Google wants the traffic revenue.
and if I click on the icon to add an image, give it the link above, a nice proper image shows up. Also not sure about all the sharing settings, but if you see a viking tumbler below, that image is hosted on google photos. My preview here looks fine
edit looks ok after posting... tried a couple browsers, logged out of google and reloaded the page and the image is still showing properly... My vague memory is that things seem to work and break shortly after. Maybe google's smart enough to realize and noggle this type of use? Tommy

Really appreciate the attention to my malfunction. I intend to do some more posting after being dormant for a few years.
Thanks "oregon", and I've got 3 words for you - Richardson's Rock Ranch. The Valhalla of rockhounds in the Northwest!

In google photos, there's sort of a < symbol with little dots at the top right, when you're viewing a single photo (at least that's where the symbol is on desktop, when you go to photos.google.com ) ... Click that little symbol and then, "create link" and "create link" and "copy". That'll give a regular url. (I just posted some links with it. They are clickable but don't inset the image. If I try to use those regular url's with the board's "insert image button" to get img src tag, and post, they don't work and you get the little broken picture icon.)
