Amazing how that pattern just peaks out from under the surrounding area. That is going to be a beauty! I thought so, too. Thanks Brian.

Happy Friday, people! It's been awhile so I figured I'd better get off my backside and post a Fairburn. I haven't been able to hound because of the cold and snow so I'm just putting up this one. Kind of interesting. Besides, hounding season is just about here and I need to remember what they look like! The first picture is how I found the stone, the second one shows some more pattern that's on it. Not the most spectacular, but it's a Fairburn...

And one more little guy. He was pushed way back in my desk drawer and I can't remember if I posted him before... Thanks for looking.

Nice photos of the fairburns. Don't think that I've seen either one posted. I bet you could have "Tom Sawyer'd" young jasoninsd into going rockhounding out in the snowy prairie if you had just said that these were recent finds.

I don't know what you and RickB are talking about...this is perfect Fairburn hounding weather! They stick out like a sore thumb! Rick, thanks for the "young" comment...but I'm old enough to know what "Tom Sawyer'd" means! LOL The only whitewash around these parts is what's on the ground! LOL

Happy Friday, y'all! Today's first two are some stones that I had in one of my Fairburn jars- but I think they're more accurately some sort of Lace agates. Yeah they tricked me. And then a couple of pics of the same stone. Thanks for looking!

I would concur on the tricky lace agate on the first...I have my own names for those, but I can't post them on this forum! That second rock...the Fairburn...is gorgeous! Love it!

Yeah, they get my heart racing all the time when I first see them...then nothing! That second one is pretty nice, I might try to get a better picture of the bands if I get time today. I've mentioned this before, but according to most of the people I talk to at rock shows and such, Fairburns with a ton of quartz are supposedly less desirable. But I'll gladly take them, any day!

I'm in agreement with you on the quartzy ones...to me they're just as desirable as any other! LOL From a selling standpoint, I get what they're saying, but I don't ever see any of mine going up on the auction block - so it doesn't really matter! LOL

That’s just crazy! Assuming you are probably never going to cut that one, the quartzy bits are just icing on the cake! I could maybe see where the quartz could be distracting from the patterns in some cases, but certainly not with that one. That may be one of my favorites that you posted.

No, this one will never see a tumbler or saw, at least at my house! I like the quartz also, it always ads a bit of contrast and seems to bring out the colors in the bands better.
