Is there any way to tumble or vibrate epoxy resin off my recently acquired agates? The agates I adopted are golf ball sized but used in a project that used epoxy. I don't usually tumble my agates, as I think they are beautiful as they are found. But, these came to me covered in epoxy. I simply want to restore them to their natural beauty.

Tumbling should certainly get the epoxy off but holes cracks and deprssions might not get cleaned out. I would try a bit of chemical warfare. Give them a good long soak in Acetone. You will need something with a good seal, possibly a paint tin, careful using plastic containers or containers with plastic lids. Best to do it outside too the vapours from that are heavier than air and are very flammable.

If the epoxy is clear and they have good appearance I would leave them as is. Can you post any pictures?

Tumbling does not remove epoxy efficiently in my opinion. I purchased a sealable crock about a quart in capacity at a thrift shop and i put acetone in it and use it to remove epoxy or more typically CA from dopped cabs.
