A couple local organizations paired up and held a contest. It was in honor of Earth Day. Clean up the Environment. Both my daughter and I were winners.
Her and her husband have been cleaning up debris from the grocery store across the street from their driveway. Some of the debris is on land owned by Stevens Point. They are located in park Ridge, a suburb that is surrounded by Stevens Point. They have been safely collecting 2-3 garbage bags weekly.
I was using my grabber to collect and take home garbage at Hartman Creek State Park. Did this 2 times per week.
There were three winners total. I thought it was interesting that my daughter was a past volunteer and Board member for one organization. I am a current volunteer for the other organization. It is the one I was a session leader at last year. MREA. Did a rock hounding for children and families session. I have also volunteered n other ways in the past.
Now that you got this far, I must say something. The total membership for both organizations is about 5000. Only 3 people participated!
Both my daughter and I received nice prize packages, valued at over $50.00.
I will continue to pick up garbage at Hartman Creek. My daughter will continue to pick up garbage on the city owned land along their driveway.
Why? Because we care. Unlike those ho leave their garbage for others to pick up.

Good for yall! For the life of me I can not wrap my head around people that litter, especially outdoor recreational areas. I believe it's all how u were raised. I was brought up to never leave behind trash regardless of where I was or how much other trash was around. And always do my part to pick up after others. I cant count how many places have closed down public access due to people trashing up the areas. From private fishing ponds, to hiking trails, nature areas etc.. I am quick to loudly call out anyone littering whether it be on the freeway or out fishing. Kudos to you and your daughter!
