Thanks Mike! Unfortunately I lost a good bit of color from the pink banding when doming and sanding. Was a much brighter pink before. Contrasting with the yellow next to it made it really pop. But even with the low dome I lost a fair amt of the color and was another reason I decided to stick with the dremel for polishing. I may throw it in the lot o for final polish stage after the contest to see how far off I was doing it by hand. I think that happens to the best of us. Unfortunately, my favorite stones to work with are usually the ones with bright colors, banding, fortification, etc...

Alright folks, here's my submission for this month's contest. I bought this hunk of owyhee jasper as seen, probably for a buck. Can't recall if I've ever worked the stuff before. Slab: Preform: Cab: Thanks for looking and good luck everyone!

Hey Tommy is it ok to use this one for my free form. I have posted two photos of the Montana that was from the last slabs I cut when I found out my saw bearings were going then gone when I tried to trim the broken one. The only thing that I have done to this was on one side I ground the saw marks only on one side. The smaller one is the end cut that I through in my vibe to smooth up the outer edge then still needs some TLC. My other challenge is this larger slab is slightly thicker on one edge then the other, I have thrown these in the box until my saw was running again I did get a shaft but the blade won’t tighten so I am still working without a saw. On the other hand I have a bag full of end cuts and other slabs that I have put a side until I got ready to make free forms. So thank you for the extra boost to get me going on these free forms. I have showed both sides of this slab this side I removed the saw marks but nothing else as of yet This is the slab I want to enter in the contest saw marks on this side

Hey Tommy is it ok to use this one for my free form. Looks great! Those are my personal favorite type of freeforms to make where the stone itself says what shape the cabochon will be.

Thank you I think the finished piece will blow every bodies mind this little baby has a hidden treasure inside like amber it has or resembles a critter. When I finish I will take a pic with the back lit to show my surprise inside. The only other hint I will give is the color is 2 tone

I was grinding a montana moss on my cab king and it came apart on me. I knew it probably would...
So I started grinding out the fractures, no particular shape in mind, and ended up with this: [Edited out a fuzzy pic of the face since I was able to get a nicer one] Hopefully it doesn't look like I used a template. I've never seen a template that shape. Lucky for me SOME interesting part of the stone was left!
That's straight off the 3k wheel on the cab king. Here's the 2 sides:
I apologize for the blurry pics, I need to polish the scratches off my phone's camera glass. Thanks for looking!

In my second side picture I see a modified VW beetle, slammed to the ground, with 44" tires burning up the dirt on a desert race track with the sun shining through a hole in thick cloud cover (the reflection) @4:20
