I just received an electric wax melt pot. Was wondering if it would work as a dop pot?
Someone through it would be helpful for the lotion bars I make, but it is too small for that. It holds maybe 3/4 Cup of melted wax.
I thought I read somewhere here that it has been tried, but did not get hot enough. Cannot find that thread.
Thanks.

I forget the temp needed for dop wax, but it would be easy enough to find. Just compare the 2 temps.

I bought a glue pot to use for dop wax. The temp gets up to 250/260. Don't know if that is hot enough as the stones keep coming off the dop stick. What temp do dop pots operate at?

Green wax softens and melts at 150-160. If you overheat the wax, some of it (the shellac probably) burns out, ruining the wax. You don't want it too thinly melted. It should still be kinda thick.

It was wax melt used at nail salon. Has variable temperature works great. Also an old timers method my dropping sticks have screw heads for the ends. I hardly ever dip but for earrings I must.
