I went ahead and tried a gray background with these and reshot the other ones. I like the gray better, but not sure how it will look in my shop with the different intensities of gray. I like the white look for that. They are all the same- white. Here's the latest 2 @hookedonrocks cabs. Blue mountain and Morrisonite. There is a nice pattern in the Blue Mt, but it's hard to see. You can sure see the polish, though. You can see my camera in the light tent. I used really pretty wires for that, so the bail has some interest, too. I wanted to pull out more fancy wires as the cabs are deserving, but the girdles were to thin. Most of my fancier wire is thicker than my regular wire.
Here are the ones from the last batch shot on gray. What do ya'll think- captbob ?

I like the gray a lot. I know what you’re saying about the background color on your site though.

I just had to see this pendant side-by-side with the two backgrounds. The gray background certainly highlights your wire-work much better. It also frames the pendant nicely with a more noticeable shadow.
I'm not sure how to describe it, but the white background looks more ethereal and as if it's floating, while on the gray it's clearly lying on the surface. The white looks fresh and unusual, while gray backgrounds are common on Etsy and other venues.
On balance I would stick with your white...

Thank you for that well thought out opinion.

why does the site prefer white?
o yeah Tela I've started suspending free floating my hearts against a rock background
makes them more alive and persoanly like th shadow effect
have you experimented w/ that ?
what ya really need is a model to show them off against skin they are showcasing and rocking!

Love them all. I prefer the gray backgrounds, but that could just be my eyes/computer.

White is very homogeneous. It's just easier and cleaner looking.

Lovely wraps, Tela! I'm not sure which background I prefer, though...I thought I liked white better but I keep changing my mind.

I also think that the gray makes the wire pop. You could glue a small dowel and use a bit of poster putty or mineral tack to hold the jewel an inch or so off the background to give a floating effect on gray. Back when I knew what I was doing, gradient gray-white backgrounds were flexible without being too busy. They used to sell gradient sheets in packs at photography shops (I suppose there are sources on the 'net these days, though).

Messing around with Bazaart.... Looking at Evan's editing of the image on white, rockjunquie , it occurred to me that you could get a soft shadow around your pieces by placing them on top of a small piece of, say, 1/4" plywood. The shadow would help to emphasize your wire designs like the photo on gray.
Ideas? Ideas are cheap! Want some more?

Turned out, it wasn't as durable as I would have liked and the one I had was quite expensive. Maybe they are cheaper now.

Beautiful, of course!
I have to say I like the grey background better because it's easier to see the whole wrap with a little contrast. What knave did on your white background looks pretty good, too. I think opalpyrexia may be right, a little shadow would be a help.
Great work on all of them, Tela!
