Last weekend my family had a blast doing some 4wheeling, camping and rock hunting. More of the first 2 than the latter, but that's OK. I did manage to find a few treasures and am very happy about them. I've been so busy since my return Monday night, I hadn't even had time to think about rocks. I haven't even turned my tumbler on since my return (I know that's sacrilege!!!) Anyway, I started cleaning and organizing my rock area and started taking a closer look at some of the rocks I had found and boy was I suprised. Here are a couple of them.
Pict 1: scale- slightly smaller than a baseball. Purple flint, Blue "quartzy" material, and a quartz crystal
This blue one absolutely "blue" me away. I hadn't noticed it's total beauty until I washed it up a little bit. I really don't know what to do w/ it yet, but I'll come up w/ something. While poking around downstream from an Indian ruin, I stumbled onto this 3inch quartz crystal. Thought it was a straw or something poking outta the dirt - boy was I suprised.
Pict 2- Scale is about the size of a quarter:
The second pict shows some cool purple/white flint shards. Nothing too incredible, but interesting enough nonetheless.
Most of the stuff I found was while riding my 4wheeler. I'd see something in the dirt and hurry and jump off the bike, grab cool piece, throw it in the bag, jump back on and forget all about it. It wasn't until today that I got a good look at them and it was worth the wait.
