Good point thanks for bringing up my neck folds. You don't have neck folds. I'm talking about turkey wattle folds. is that kind of like bingo wings??

Good question. I agree with personal preference. I had a friend ask me to make her an amulet. It was round and about 3". Have sold some pendants that are up to 2.5" long.

So I finally got around to taking a pic of various sizes of pendants that I've done I learned a few things... I have a lot of pendants laying around. I have some cabs that I should rewrap. And this still doesn't answer the question, at least in my opinion. I still think it's a matter of personal preference. If someone wants it, they'll buy it.

And this still doesn't answer the question, at least in my opinion. I still think it's a matter of personal preference. If someone wants it, they'll buy it. When I started selling Pendants at Craft Shows a couple of folks told me the ones I was making were too large and they would be too heavy. Did start making some smaller. Part of the reasoning behind the size was my hesitation to cut a nice pattern up. My sales have told me that a mix of sizes seems to be working. A bit of marketing research conducted by me watching potential customers as they pass by and by sometimes just asking folks who are looking at them has shown that all sizes will sell. As far as the being too heavy, I have noticed some ladies wearing enough weight in chains and babbles and bangles that 3 or 4 of my biggest pendants would not come close to in weight. These observations and questions does point out one advantage to doing a Craft Show, the potential customers are all in the room. Looking at your Pendants, I would say that I could sell any of them at my Shows(eventually). That eventually is always the catch, I may put out 100 Pendants and only sell 20 to 30 at any given Show. I do try and watch and if a Pendant has not sold in a while, I move it to the bargain bin and price them between $3 and $5 figuring that any money I get is better than keeping it around. Plus I remove non-sellers from my display and replace them with hopefully better. (note - my pendants are drilled with Pinch Bails, not as nice as your wraps. They are priced accordingly) Henry

Ok, to be honest some are also the size and shape that they are because of fractures. It's good to hear someone chime in that has experience!

When I first started, big was the way to go. Big bails, too, because people were wearing big wire wraps on beads. I sold many converters that enabled a pendant to be worn on beads. Over time, I see that people like them a bit smaller, but big ones still sell well.
I started on eBay. My very first sale was one I had placed in plus size women's fashions. The woman was thrilled to see it placed there and said there was a lack of bigger jewelry for bigger women. (Don't know about that, but she was happy.)
I tend to make cabs (and still buy them) in the 40ishmm range. While not huge, it's still on the big side. I like to cut cabs for pattern. I don't see a lot of material that cuts knock out small stones. I mean, there are obviously plenty, but mostly they are larger patterns. Part of my style evolved to simply capture a nice stone. When people shop for jewelry, they are looking for and should see the stone. So, I don't go overboard with my wire and that keeps the pendant smaller, too. When they get to be about 50mm and up, I will make a hidden bail, but that's rare.

Size in part depends on weight of the stone. I was just working on a piece of opalized wood that is relatively light, and that caused me to let it remain bigger than if it had a higher weight. You can tolerate or even enjoy big if you are not dealing with a dead weight around your neck.
