Light brown to clean in color, quartz-like material. Found on country road. Very sparklie in the sunshine. I sent some of this to BearCreek for his expert opinion too.

added info...I just put a load in 60/90 to see what it does. Thinking of getting a lot more for my rock garden.

it looks like it has that white "skin" that agate nodules sometimes have; maybe a butterscotch agate. ed

Looks like calcite to me. If it is, it should react with some vinegar(acid). Put some vinegar on the rock and see if it fizzes.

I put some vinegar on it and nothing happened...tried it twice with same results so it's not calcite...thanks for the info.. Pho

I broke up one of the bigger rocks...put it in a tumbler...so far (2nd dday) it seems to be tumbling just like quartz.... The outer layer is milky white and not very thick. Seems to be the quartz-like stuff all the way through the rock. I just don't think it is citrine. Next time I go to town I may try to take it to the experts at A and M University...damn...they got degrees in rocks so they should know.

OK guys..agatenut was correct...this rock is CALCITE. I took it to the geology department at Texas A and M University and the asst. head of the department looket at it and at first said it could be gypsum....but then he ran some tests and looked at it under a big microscope and said...no sir...this is calcite...so that is final. Thanks for everyone's imput..
