Very, very nice, Chuck. Just curious, what gauge copper are you using on those? Russ Thanks. I have been using 24 gauge and it works great. Got mine from RIO but when I first started I just picked up a small piece of copper roof flashing from Home Depot and that worked too. Two pieces 6" x 12" each for under $15. Just for grins I checked to see what the same thing would cost in sterling. Two sheets of 24 gauge 6" x 12" would cost $344. Yikes. Chuck

I really like those. Very interesting design and execution, and the technique looks applicable to a lot of different shapes.

Thanks. That's about what I was thinking. Played around a little last winter with some scrap copper I had laying around. Guess I'll pass on the silver for now.

Thanks. That's about what I was thinking. Played around a little last winter with some scrap copper I had laying around. Guess I'll pass on the silver for now. Russ I did the math. I needed a 2" x 3" piece of copper for the circle pendant. A piece of 24 gauge silver that size goes for $15. I then took the two pieces of scrap from the circle pendant and weighed those and they weighed 12 grams. The scrap value for 12 grams of sterling by sending it back to RIO is $5. So the actual cost out of pocket to make the circle would be $10. Chuck

Thanks, Chuck. Most interesting. I'll wreck some more copper first before playing with the good stuff.

Neat idea. I've been mulling a similar tabbed design using heavy gauge wire hammered flat but that hasn't progressed past daydream stage. Don't know why i never considered sheet copper. I really like how clean and solid your pendants look.

I agree nice thread and the patterns as well to bad with the price of silver being so low then getting gouged on the price for sheet silver.

I tried this with normal Elmer's glue and it's a pain, just won't stick to the copper when dry. I'll try that school glue and see if it works better. Was tempted to try rubber cement but it would probably gum up the saw and make a real mess. And after fiddling together a template for an oval pendant i'm really tempted to start making all my cabs round or square lol. Anyway thanks again for the tutorial i really like this style.

For anyone else trying to secure a paper template to copper sheet, that Elmer's School Gluestick is fantastic. The regular elmer's completely loses adhesion with the copper when it dries, but with the glue stick I can't peel off the paper if I try. Cleans up easily with water and you can just soak the piece in water for a minute for easy removal if you want to save the pattern.

I love making these, and also do not have any for myself as my family has taken them all.
