I bought 9 pounds of Willow Creek and got 20 ounces of slabs. This piece weighed 1.5 pounds with a much better percentage of slabs. The price per pound paid was a lot more and also a lot less work to cut.

Yep, that was a good one.
Don't know who you buy from, but the miner used to get $35/lb for rough back when he used to set up at Quartszite.

Both were purchased on ebay. The 9 pounds was about $10 a pound and I knew a substantial amount was landfill. It was an auction item. This piece was a buy it now and about $33 a pound plus tax and shipping. I messaged the seller to get more information about the piece including his opinion. I bought a large piece of rough from Tony on facebook fullmoon and it was a left over quartzite piece at a reduced price but I've only cut two cabs from the slabs.
I am willing to pay a premium price for premium material because I can get a better price for the cabs, but finding good Willow Creek on ebay or etsy is not easy.
