A friend found this rock near a volcano in Mexico. The rock looks like one I had seen sliced last year on this forum, but I cannot find the post. I tried other ways to ID it without success, but stumbled across some pictures of stoney meteorite that look similar. It is heavy. I am baffled. I don't want to slice it if it is a meteorite (which I doubt), but wonder if someone else has an idea? I know very little about meteorites. Considering it was found near a volcano, then it is probably volcanic. But then again it was found under the sky...

Is it magnetic? That might help with ID. Were there any documented meteors in the area? Some meteor paths are well documented.
To me, it does not have the typical appearance of a Meteorite, but I am no expert.

I have some errands to run after work and if time allows, it gets sliced this evening. I hope the designs on the outside are throughout. I will take a video (win or fail). Thanks for the input.

I watched both videos. I am glad you sliced it, it looked really nice. too bad it was so crumbly, it would have made some brilliant cabs
