We tried a different area on Memorial Day. Still well within 2 hours from home. This site produced a lot of stuff that wasn't the usual MO lace agate and jasper. The group picture, I'm sorry, I'm just not great with the camera yet and it's blurry. I took close ups of the smaller group for obvious reasons -- I couldn't believe these colors! So what do you guys think I've got here? I thought maybe fluorite? The bright colored stuff seems soft. I've got a bunch of it in the vibe and it smoothes out quickly. In fact I have been taking out the green and purple glassy ones after little time because they smooth out so fast. Thanks for looking!

Hey Puppie, take some pics of the ones you've already taken out of the vibe too. There's some great colors there, are some of those purple? Someo f them look almost amethyst purple to me in the pics. (could be monitor difference too)

Cher, I was really excited, I looked down and saw purple and picked up a few of what looked to be beautiful amethyst crystals. I thought that for a while, then found some green rocks with purple inclusions. A bunch of the rocks have a crust on the outside that consists of the green stuff. I don't know whether it will all grind away, it is worrysome. Also patches of purple stuck on the green. Good idea about trying some pictures. I've busted up a lot of the larger pieces, and it is pretty amazing stuff. Green and glassy have definitely not been part of our SE MO rockhunts before.

Man I'd be wanting to spend a couple of days there just digging for that purple stuff. I can't wait to see what they look like ... I'm so jealous. *smile* I've told my daughter we need to take a trip to visit puppie and she's like "HUH?" LOL ;D She's got in-laws in MO somewhere but I'm not sure where.

I'm thinking fluorite, since this is among the many minerals listed at this site, which is a NFS campground/park which was a working silver mine many years ago. I was looking in a big tailings pile. But, I haven't seen fluorite described as forming a crust on other rocks, which is the case often, here. Yeah, come on down and rockhound, we have a lot of stuff!

I'm scared that it will get ground away. We'll see!
