Hi I'm new to the forum. I've got a Lortrain 33B tumbler that has worked fine for a couple of years now. Suddenly the barrels have started to climb up off of the drive and idler shafts. I see there is some wearing of the rubber sleeve on one of the shafts. Do I need to replace them? Is it likely something else?
Thanks for any help.

It was the drive and idler arms. Husband replaced them with new along with a new fan belt , and it cleaned it all up. Runs well, and I'm back in business, hobby business I mean. Thanks for the assistance. I gather these are things that will need to be replaced periodically. Corgimom.

It helps to oil the bushings regularly and keep the shafts as clean as possible.

The fact your barrels were being pushed off the shafts (and the one-sided wearing of the rubber coating), makes me believe that the idler shaft had a lot of resistance when compared to the drive shaft. While the shafts may have to be replaced every now and then, the oil will extend their life. One drop for the bushings about every month of constant use is a rough guide. A light oil like 3 in 1 is sufficient. If your husband didn't check, you may want to look to see how smooth the bushings are. They can wear as well, and they also can be replaced.
