So a little backstory first. I made my daughter a heart for her keychain and gave it to her last Christmas and she loved it. The keychain that she had it on broke and a few things fell off- including the heart. It's nowhere to be found, so I'm starting a new one. My question is this- if you look at the top left there's a druzy. I don't think it's super deep. I'm wondering if I should grind it out or leave it? I suppose it's a matter of opinion/aesthetics, but I'm curious what others think before I go any further. Thanks!

That's gonna be sweet when finished! My personal opinion would be to work the stone as if it weren't there. As in I wouldn't go out of my way to grind it out. I think it adds unique character to the stone but if overall dome or shape of stone require u to grind it down then would be ok too.

I planned on making an asymmetrical heart anyway, so I don't think that when I do the cleft it should go down that far and cause it to break....hopefully!

Here's the shape I ended up with, I think it's ready for the tumbler now. Thanks for looking!

LOOOOOOVE that shape and I'm not a big heart fan. Good job and great material. Your daughter will be thrilled. Now you need to get her a new keychain, too.

I like it a lot—- Rock , shape, and special characteristics. Lovely piece. Rock looks like falling roses. Keep druzy.

Loving it! Love the druzy, too. Something about sunlight sparkling off a stone with a druzy in it is really appealing to magpies like me.
