KD, that white stuff looks like congealed tapioca! It's very amazing! The closeup on the second shot is terrific! Wonder what our bones look like fossilized?

KD, the white rock you posted is fossilized palm wood. I'm 100 per cent certain of that.

Just a "by the way", the palm wood is cut in cross section (ie as if making rounds), and those little dots are the fossilized tubes in the palm wood where water and nutrients moved up and down the tree. When the palm wood is cut vertically, those tubes form more of a vertical pattern, kind of like dark little straws on the white matrix. Personally, I prefer the cross-section cuts like you have. Nice piece.

thanks, rollingstone, i'll write that down. did anyone see on CNN where they were able to germinate a 2,000 year old palm seed? they call the plant "Methusela".
isn't that amazing that there would be still a whisper of life in a seed that old??

Rolling-
Hey, guy thanks for that. I've heard of people finding petrified palm here in Utah (in fact the person who game me the dino bone found some palm and said she'd send me a chunk) I've heard it's really cool stuff. I've never seen picts before so, I appreciate that!

Hey all. That Dino bone is really cool stuff. I'm glad I was able to polish the pieces for Gaetz. Here's one more pic of the smaller piece I took using the sun to backlite the stone. It really shows the beauty of the structure of the cells. Thanks for all the kind words. Ed

Ed, you really do beautiful work, how come I don't remember seeing much of it in pics? *smile* We need to see more.
KD, that stuff you have is really cool, can't wait to see what you do with it.
