Good day all,
Now that it is Phase II in my state most people are scurrying around like ants, released and free to roam around and socialize again. But ... this comes at a price. You see the Covid-19 cases have quadrupled now from what they were only 3 weeks ago, setting new daily highs, and reaching the former levels that we saw before lockdown.
So I am sheltering more, escaping the heat and finding more time to twist wire around some rocks. So here goes.
P098 - Columbia Dioptase Nugget - about the diameter of a nickel, this is some unusual Dioptase which I have found a small amount of. I tried some new twists around the bail.
P099 - Holt Canyon Jasper Nugget - another small one about the size of a quarter. It is red enough to be Holt Canyon, but honestly looks like Lavic. I just didn't think my lavic was this bright... after a while all of the rocks run together.
P100 - Dioptase Pink Dolomite Cow - one of only 3 pink Dolomite rocks that I have found. A medium sized example, which I think looks a bit like a milk cow.
P101 - Columbia Chrysocolla Oval - almost 2 inches long, and fairly tall, this is one of many mottled Chrysocolla pieces that I should be wrapping shortly. I kept it overly simple, hoping that it might get worn some day.
P102 - Crystal Power Tear - I find one of these every once in a while. My wife likes them, and there is a small pile of them by the kitchen sink. I was walking by the other morning and thinking that with a little touch up, that one could be a pendant... The binding on this one is tiiiight!
P103 - Ajax Large Tear - i visited another local mine (which I did a field report a while back ago), and found a couple of noteworthy chunks from the trip. I like how vivid the Chrysocolla appears, and the variety of other rock combined. It is a larger pendant. I don't like binding with square wire. It twists too much. Maybe just because it's Parawire (which I do not like: soft soft)
P104 - Lavic Red Vug - (Before) - ok, this is the "Before". I spent extra time on this wrap to get the details right, and then executed the bail as best I could. But hate it. Plus, my wife said it looked like an sad owl. Here is what it looked liked before I removed the bail.
P104 - Lavid Red Vug - (After) - ok, this is the "After". There is a vug in this, right in the face, which was in the middle of the cab and could not be seen when I started grinding. I like it, since it is semi-deep. I left it, and upside down this looks like sea horse (to me).
P105 - Columbia Chrysocolla Tear - another Chrysocolla piece. I don't know what the black is though. It is too dark I think to be Cuprite, and definately too dark for Limonite I think. I have a few others like this. It is a medium sized rock which has an extremely tight wrap. I almost worried about the softer stone.
Well, thanks for stopping by and having a look.
