Thoughts? I know nothing of what is true or false here, just that it is interesting. I only have a screenshot of the FB post so to read it all you’ll prob have to search his name and read his post.

Now I'm even more confused than ever because I thought it was now called Caldera Jasper.
ETA
I guess I should add that ellipso jasper is a type of Gary Green with orbs.

Maybe Tommy could shed some light on this?

Maybe Tommy could shed some light on this? I'm sure he can, in fact he did in the link I posted.

If so, is it now owned by John Cooke and we can expect the name to change? I posted this thread to understand what’s happening.

Gary green, Larsonite, ellipso, caldera jasper and the new name freedom jasper are all the same location. John Cooke is in the process of purchasing the site.

I got a piece from the latest dig about an hour ago from sphereguy who was just at the mine with John and Dale. My saws are all packed for the move so I can't slice it right now. John Cooke is a relatively new kid on the block when it comes to the rock Biz, but I have nothing but good to say about how he conducts his business. He is about an hour from here and I have been there several times. Dale had previously changed the name to Caldera Jasper for the same reasons. It's a shame that there have been some less than stellar people in tha rock biz over the years, but they are the exception, not the rule. John, and those who work with him, are people I would be proud to be associated with.

Rewriting history seems to be a common theme lately. Lapidary rough names have always been named after a location, wife, girl friend, the finder or the jackass (no really I am speaking of a donkey) that hauled all the tools, etc. These names drive a geologist (and many of us as well) crazy since they clearly are not "jasper" or "onyx" just some made up name to sell a product. Ok, fine, add another synomym to the pile if it makes you feel better, it does not change the material, only the price they charge per pound.

Yes it has raised the price, I have sold tons of it over the years and now I cant buy any for less than I have been selling it for. Guess it is one item that will be done when I run out of it here. Too bad it sure is a cool material.
