I found these two halves of the same rock on two separate visits to the same spot. They were separated by at least a hundred feet, and I picked them out out of the millions of other rocks there. What are the chances? I had them in my collection for months and didn't realize they were the same rock until one day when I joked to my wife that they were two halves of the same rock, and when I put them together, I found that they actually fit. I think the two halves really wanted to get back together again and put that joke into my head.

Judging from the worn edges it appears they were apart for a long time. Were they on a beach?

Apparently rocks aren't just rocks, they have feelings, too!

Once upon a time, I found the two halves of the same agate several years apart, rolling on the beach, like rocks do.
When I used to frequent the same beach everyday, I would toss an odd rock back into the ocean. It was interesting where they show up next.

I have had that experience. Found a 8” long smoky quartz crystal in float ( this was a area where they were grading hillsides to build houses and a piece of heavy equipment must have pulled it up as it had a couple fresh chips on it ). About 3 weeks later I found a smaller smoky with the same coloration in the general area. It took about a month to notice the indentation on the smaller one matched a bulged area on the larger one. I put them together and they matched perfectly; I actually glued them together and it was a nice piece, sitting front and center on my old entertainment center. Sadly it was stolen out of my home, if I ever ran across it again I’d recognize it in a heartbeat. On a side note this locality is now completely covered with houses but I still have many nice, but smaller crystals from the area.
