I have a lot of catch up to do. I have been busy cabbing this year and am staring at hundreds of (mediocre) rocks that are all asking to be turned in to pendants! Not to mention the pressure my wife puts on (she want 10,000)... so here goes.
P106 - Columbia Pink Dolomite Tear - another of my few Pink rocks. The back is much more interesting, but for some reason I cabbed the front on this side, hoping the colors would come through. They didn't. And I wanted to leave the crown tall. This is 20 guage, and done in a brass color.
P107 - Colorado Quartzite Wave - a Colorado river rock. I find a few of these, and they are usually dark like this. In person and in good light they can show well though. 22 gauge, with beads. I still like using beads.
P108 - 2Bs Plain old Rock - this is an Arizona mine dump rock. I picked it up a year or two ago and it can be very green in color (I posted some tumbles once). But it can be white too. My wife picked this one out of a large pile for me to cab next. So here it goes. Its a softer rock, and this is 22 gauge. The backdrop is what the Pet Wood in my neighborhood looks like. It might even be one of the chunks in my avatar picture.
P109 - Columbia Chrysocolla Drop - used to be an oval. But the polishing produced an undercut in the upper left, which I had to remove and make a tear. It is still not perfect up there, but i am not about to lay the whole rock to waste trying to make it perfect. The 22 gauge is square, which I rarely use.
P110 - Holt Jasper Agate Tear - of the specimens from my Holt trip last year. The material is not perfect, but I think it is interesting. The prongs at the bottom are intentional, as there is a pit below one of them. A medium sized stone done in 22 gauge.
P111 - Gunlock Swirl Mystery Mess - from a recent trip, I can't figure out if the material is Agate or Jasper. It cuts like Agate. But overall the structural integrity of this complex mess is questionable on my material. I like the look thought. Done in 22 gauge.
P112 - Ajax Chrysocolla Dots - part Chrysocolla, and part (Dioptase maybe), and kind of an odd rock dug from the Ajax site. It is the only thing like it that I found, and had a large chunk missing from the middle. I had to cut it down quite much to get this. The return of the funky beads! Looks like it might catch some fish, eh Walt!
P113 - Columbia Dioptase Oval Large - a larger piece which could have been 2, but I left it and wrapped it in 18 guage. The wire is so thick and tough to twist, reminded me why I don't wrap more larger rocks. I left it simple, since the patterns in the rock are busy. It's a heavy chunk.
Well, that's it for now. I am off to twist more mangled wire around another homely batch of stones ... or something else fun and rock related! I was supposed to be in Utah today, but just decided to stay home and tinker around instead.
Thank you for stopping by to have a peek!
