Enjoy! Glad they made it. Those are part of my "crappy day collection" since they are coprolites. And was happy to get those tree rings in that last one!

I realized I jumped the gun on TURD TUESDAY, today's Monday! I guess the holiday has my ancient, senile mind all confused. Is there such a thing as gastroliths on the brain?

I hate when I get my days wrong too and I've done that myself lately. If you want to, you can post some colorful Hadrosaur fireworks photos tomorrow, Tuesday July 4. That will get you back into sync and add to the festivities.

Coprolite, when cut, so often has these round shapes with sort of star like cracks filled with a different material in them. Is there a name for this round/star shape in the rock world?

Not that I'm aware of. As far as I know they are unique to coprolite except for the larger ones that can be identified as cross sections of twigs and tree limbs the saw bisected. I often refer to these as ghost limbs because they are partially digested but are still identifiable as such. Superb and easily identifiable tigs and limbs have been found which obviously were not digested very well. Most are probably obliterated in the digestive tract and appear as mysterious blobs of crap.

You got an amazing variety of poop in that box, Jason! I don’t know that I’ve seen one like #7 (I totally see a person wearing a hat in that one, too). #4 caught my eye as well. There are a couple in that batch that have gorgeous outsides as well.

Randy really hooked you up! I think so too...on both accounts!

You've been busy! Did you use a clamp to hold those? If so what kind?

You've been busy! Did you use a clamp to hold those? If so what kind? Just caught your question Gary. Nope...no clamp. Handheld "clamp" against the saw's fence. Held with my right hand as my left hand runs the drop-saw.
