...make it to the mountain, then bring the mountain to Mohammed (or Jason!)! Isn't that how the saying goes? My interest in agates started with an 8-ton delivery of river rock to my house which my wife and I went through and found quite a few nice prairie agates. I have since been out to Railroad Buttes numerous times searching for the elusive Fairburn Agate...and got SKUNKED each time. (I did however stumble upon a nice little draw the last time I was over there which I think has the potential to produce a few as time goes by...) Well, today I had another 13-tons of river rock delivered. It's coming from Wasta, SD. Man, it's dusty and dirty! I decided to just hose off the pile and have a quick peek at what was there...and this beautiful little gem showed up right on the surface of the pile! Finally!!! A Fairburn Agate!!! (Delivered to my back door! LOL) I was BEYOND excited!!! I can't wait to see what's in the REST of the pile! Now I REALLY want to get back out to Railroad Buttes and find one "in the wild"! LOL

There's no hope for you now. May as well consign your soul over to the addiction.

That's a beauty for sure! Railroad Buttes is a great placed to get skunked, I've only been there twice and there is a ton of land to hound. I need to get my order in for some river rock!

Thanks F&P! Beautiful agate. Great story. Keep on hoindin' and showing off your finds. Lynn Thanks Lynn! It's pretty bad as I'm finding myself counting rocks instead of sheep when laying down for bed at night! LOL

Nice. I missed your post with your closeup pics of what you called your monster Fairburn. Sometimes the smaller ones have the coolest bands and patterns. That's a good one, Jason!

I know the term "monster" is relative...but it was more referring to the banding on it. It's not tiny...it's 1.75"x1.75"x1.25". I looked it over the other night with my magnifying lens and the patterns are amazing. There are small banding lines that are all over this one. I love staring at it! LOL

So, I moved some more river rock today...it goes really slowly when you have to spray the pile down with a garden hose, then inspect every shovel full as you're putting it in the power wagon! LOL That being said, I did find another Fairburn Agate in the pile today. There is only the smallest amount of banding showing through the surface, but I can see there is further red just under the surface. So, I'm seriously considering facing this one... A couple weeks ago, I woke up in the morning from a dream where I found a red Fairburn...and now this is the fourth Fairburn I've found with red banding since that dream! (I need to dream I won the lottery!)
