Heaven, I'm in heaven.....la,la, la Went to an estate sale yesterday. Walked down in basement and he had a workshop down there. There was some kind of homemade grinder, polisher I was looking at. Now I'm standing trying to figure out if this is for rock.....remember I am tool-challenged. Part of me is saying, buy it, buy it and the other part is saying yeah, right, you have no way to get it home and no place to set it up anyhow. So I look at price tag and it says rocks not included. I look down and there are two boxes of rocks sitting on floor......woo hoo, I can handle that. Have no idea what all I got but some of them are huge. This one is my favorite, lots of blue in this one.. Apache tears maybe? tigerseye I think

The top one looks like dendritic agate or moss agate.
I think you are right on apach tears.
Tiger eye most definitely.
What's the pattern on those black ones in the 4th pic?
Looks like you won the lottery!

4th pic down, the solid black ones have kinda squiggly circles patterns on it. the ones that look black and white are actually a deep forest green and white.

Very nice. The one you think are apache tear more than likely are. The one that looks like tiger eye probably is, if it isn't then it might be obsidian. Tami

I'd like to know how someone comes about finding an estate sale? I've never heard of anyone going to one here in Canada - do they exist here? I don't know if this is an acceptable questions but here goes: how much did those rocks cost you? I sure wish someone around here had something like that for me to find...

Tweet, I only paid $12 for the whole shebang. I just weighed all the rocks cause I was curious on how much I had and I got 85 lbs of rocks plus a few other things.
An estate sale is kinda like a yard sale only its indoors. I am not sure what they would call them in Canada. The family usually just marks everything in the house and you go through it and hopefully find some bargains. I have been to some really junky ones so its not just rich people.
I like going to them to find bargains and also to get a look at houses that may soon go on the market. I am house hunting and hope to find something by spring.

Yeppereee, only $12, that why I rushed and hauled all the rock out to my car, couldnt believe the price. That chunk of jade was 3 1/2 lbs so figured it was worth it just for that. Also got a few other things in the box, some small bags grit, a pamphlet on tumbling tips, a couple real old lapidary books. Now I need to find a bigger tumbler.......LOL........and get brave enough to get a saw. Tonya

Thanks, I am pretty happy. Someone else beat me to equipment while I was getting the rocks, but oh well, got some cool looking rocks out of it.
