Has anybody tried reconditioning there old saw blades. I have some old blades that are not warped or twisted just lacking the diamonds they are pretty much worn off. It’s the diamond layer or kerf that’s worn off. Then I have others wear the metal that holds the diamonds separated from the blade. The so called new replacement blades. They to are sintered blades
If so would 400 -425 grit diamond powder be to fine 100 grit seems as it maybe to coarse I am thinking of experimenting with adding new diamond grit to my old blades using 330 epoxy mixed with grit and resurfacing both sides extending the new addition of diamonds by about 1/8” past the old diamond layer.
1st by washing the blade well with acetone to remove debris and old paint, letting it dry then a good washing with alcohol so it binds to the blade well
These worn out blades are thicker, a little stiffer and hold up better cutting agate with my 6” rock rascal. then any in the last 2 years that I have bought to replace them with the new blades don’t last cutting Montana or agate in general they peel the diamonds right off. The metal seems much softer I believe is the reason for this I have/was buying blades from Kingsley but they switched to these new blades. I have tried both there new sintered and there notched.

I know somebody who works at a company who recondition industrial blades. I intend to save my old blades to have her work on them. She describes a fairly complicated process, so I won't be trying it at home.

I would like to have a few of mine redone. Is that a possibility? Also Is the cost of redoing one old blade cheaper than buying a new blade. I would hope at least to get two redone done for the cost of one new blade I am not liking buying these new blades that I cant get a half life out of the new ones, its more like a quarter of the life of a old blade. That’s tends to get pretty expensive cutting hard stones.
