I noticed lordsorril is using a Vantablack cloth as a photo backdrop. I had read about this product when it first appeared, but quickly lost track of it. Recently I did some reading about it, and it’s quite hilarious.
VantaBlack is the blackest black ever invented. It absorbs 99.6% of all visible light, turning anything that is coated by it into a 2 dimensional black hole. An artist by the name of Anish Kapoor somehow procured the “right” to be the ONLY artist licensed to use Vantablack. This quickly caused a widespread outcry in the artist community, until yet another artist, by name of Stuart Semple, created the worlds “PINKEST PINK” which was then marketed to everyone except Anish Kapoor! LOL! Anish Kapoor was undeterred, he got some PINK, dipped his center finger into it, and posted an obscene gesture to his Instagram page.

Stuart Semple and his team were determined to end the unfairness and make super black paint for artists everywhere. The latest and most successful version is BLACK 3.0, it absorbs 99% of all light and makes any object appear two dimensional. They used Kickstarter for funding and successfully brought it to market. BLACK 3.0 is relatively affordable and can be purchased at Semple’s website, www.culturehustle.com. You MUST confirm that you are NOT Anish Kapoor, and you have no intent to provide it to Anish Kapoor! VantaBlack is not available for sale to private individuals at this time. So, HOORAY for Stuart and his determined team, we can all have (almost) the worlds blackest black. Thanks for reading, Evan

To anyone who reads this: Don't waste your money on Black 3.0. I followed the directions perfectly and coated a pizza pan-and it is not very good. You can buy Duvetyne Black Commando cloth from Amazon.com it works just as good and/or better for a photography background.
