Stephan, if you elevate the motor and put it on two large hinges, the weight of the motor will keep the belt taught. This keeps the belt from slipping and makes speed changes easier. It will not damage bearings as the motor is not that heavy on and hinge. Great unit. You will grind many stones. Way cool.

Thanks- It was fully functioning when I got it- but I just say the rust starting in the pan and Thought what the heck- Plus I'm waiting for the new sanding belts and such- Sands did'nt ship the mounting board (more to ship it than what it's worth) So I took some scrap lumber and some Urathane and made up a new one! I was gonna paint the whole thing but the upper unit is still in good shape (only a few chips) so I just painted the bottom pan.

Stefen, That is a nice unit...looks good and solid too. What did you do for the water hookup, Pump, gravity feed, faucet? Having shown off, the pressure is on...we want to see CABS AND CABS AND MORE CABS. Have Fun csroc

simple gravity fed bucket- I used a 5 gallon figuring I'd need a lot of water- well I put in 2 gallons of water and have played with the old belts and It doesn't use hardly any water at all! I know I want so bad to CAB CAB CAB but until the new belts are here all I can do is try to polish my fingernails!

You've got that looking like a new one! You're really going to enjoy it. I don't know yet what I'm going to do with them all, but I love making the cabs. Plenty of pictures please!! Trish

I bought a waterbucket with attached outlet tube for my gravity feed but I was wondering...did you start from scratch? if yes, how did you modify the bucket for feed so that it doen't leak? csroc

I'm a genius! I took a clean 5 gallon bucket and drilled a 3/4 inch hole in it- I took a 3/4 inch compression fitting and wrapped teflon on the threads and screwed it inot the bucket- then attached the tubing to the compression part of the fitting! volia no leaks! If you want I can try to get a closeup (not that it will show much)
