These are some stuff I found today, not sure what they are but thought they looked worthwhile. This is pretty cool. No idea at all what it is but I like the lines in it. It's a bit darker gray than the pic shows and is very smooth grained. It's a nice big chunk, about the size of a softball. No idea, but think it will look nice tumbled. Wish I could have found more like this though, I like the colors. Possibly unikite?? More no idea but it almost has an opaque quality to it. Another no idea but thought it was unique (probably leaverite). Seems like it's small bits of quartz in some other material. This piece is about the size of a baseball too, but kept a close-up to show the texture. Another that is possibly unikite ... Hey Ron, what'cha think? Last but not least, the real treasure of the day. My grandson coming in for a safe landing. Thanks for looking. If anyone has any ideas what some of the "no idea" rocks are, it's greatly appreciated. Thanks Kim, not bad for a digital and taken on the fly. I'm always amazed when that I can get a pic of them in a race to come out nice and clear and at the same time, can totally screw up and blur a pic of rocks that don't move. LOL

I see Unakite there!!!!! The grey rock looks like some of the glacial etched (scratches made by a glacier) fine grained sandstone we have around here! I polished some- It does not take a shine- but does get a real nice smooth matte finish!

The grey looks like some of the grey rocks I have tumbled that turned out beautifully. The pink rock in the second picture looks like some of the rocks I have have tumbled, tumbles great. Does the pink rock in the second picture have a pearlly shean to it? Tami

Stefan, this has shades of gray banding throughout the rock. I'll have to give it a whack to break it down some so will have a few smaller pieces to tumble. Most of it I want to save for the saw.
Yes it does Tami. I've found a few rocks around here that seem to have that pearly sheen to them, but you only see it when you turn them at certain angles in the light. Could that be moonstone?
Alice ... YES!! It is very nervewracking. You'd think I'd be used to it by now, he's been racing since he was 4 years old but no, I'm on pins and needles each time he races. He's been wanting to get into quad racing but thankfully his parents said no to that. My granddaughter just starting racing this year too ... arrrggghhh.

Hey Cher, pic 2 is definitely Unakite, pic 5 probably is. Split it at the fault line and you'll be able to tell better. The pink and Quartz rock look like Unakite without the Epidote. The pink comes from Potassium Feldspar. Remember that Unakite is part of the Granite family of rocks. Sometimes you will find pieces of Unakite that are all Eipdote. Only problem is, around here, the Eipdote isn't anything like the Peridote (gem grade Eipdote) found out in the reservation.

Hi Ed, nope, it's not hematite. I can pick that stuff up almost anywhere up here. Whatever it is, it'll be one I keep for my dream saw.
Jack, that line does look like barbed wire ... hahaha new kind of rock maybe? *smile*
