Beautiful! Too bad you couldn't squeeze in.

Very pretty. I also missed the deadline, but unlike you, I never even got started.

I like your freeform shape and the pattern is great, too. A little odd-looking at first glance, but from a jewelry perspective it has real possibilities.

Thanks, I’m still not sure what I think about it. I may have gotten a little carried away maximizing the use of the slab. It's perfect. If I were in the market I would buy it, but I would ask you to try to break it down the middle. If you couldn't, I would pay!

It's perfect. If I were in the market I would buy it, but I would ask you to try to break it down the middle. If you couldn't, I would pay! When I cut the slab I couldn’t feel any fracture with my fingernail, but it did undercut in a couple spots along that line. That's the way rocks are. As long as it doesn't fall apart it's good. Looks like one of the golden gate bridge supports to me. A bit bent, but hey, such is life these days.

EricD part of my problem last night was that I dressed my hard wheels so there was fresh diamond exposed, but my first soft wheel is about done for. I had been putting an extreme amount of pressure on the stone to get all the flat spots out to the point the motor was getting bogged down. This gave me confidence that the stone is stable and not going to break, at the same time pushing that hard may have caused the undercut to happen. Understood. Been there.
My first soft wheel is the one that takes the beating also.
Always nice when you can be sure it won't split while you're working it!
