We moved to Napa about a year and a half ago and I had to leave my 18" saw behind until I prepared a spot for it here. Unfortunately I still don't have a place for it here - our house is one of those stupid modern California houses that go straight up and have a small footprint. I think I will end up building a small shed for it on our back patio but I have a side fence that needs more attention at this point. My youngest son works as a pipe fitter, rigger, welder and has been slowly building on to a home made engine hoist that he got for free a couple of years ago. Aside from the base it barely looks like it did when he dragged it home. This was the beasts first real workout but it performed flawlessly. Finally, into my garage it goes. I'm still not sure what I'll end up doing with it but I'll leave it in the garage until I get a number of issues fixed on it including the rebuilt feed-dogs that I posted about a while back.

We move our big saws using four men and two long 2x4s under the belly of the beast. Then they sing 16 TONS or OLD MAN RIVER. I think they would appreciate a rig like yours!

We expect to start seeing slabs soon!!
I was lucky when I bought the used 24 inch HP saw as it had wheels on the 4 legs. The gentleman I bought it from had one of the electric lightweight fork lifts to put it in the trailer I pulled. At home we put several 2X4's and 2X6's down and rolled it off at the edge of the drive and rolled it up into the garage. Without the wheels it would have been a 4 or 5 friends and a case of beer to get it off the trailer and into the garage.
Highland Park did not spare any steel when they built those old 60's model Highland Park saws!!

Tommy, is there a back door in the garage or is that another major effort to get the saw behind the house?
Came in handy, eh, that extra headroom once you get in the garage? : )

If it does end up heading fir behind the house I'm gonna jack it up and install off road wheels on it...
