Hi! Another newbie here. I decided to pick up a new hobby since my current ones are being limited due to Covid. This one has the added bonus of justifying why I keep bringing rocks home and piling them in the yard. And provides great reasons to go exploring the wilderness. I'm not sure exactly which lapidary arts I'm interested in - I'll just have to try them all and see what I like. I've taken a couple classes at a local rock shop, and have a had a blast so far. Just got an older 18" slab saw cleaned out and working. It should give me a good amount of practice slabbing while I get other equipment. I'm an avid diver and my family has an odd obsession with fish, so I suspect my work will be leaning towards the aquatic.

Welcome from southern California. There are a lot of beach agates in Oregon, so hunting them should go well with your aquatic inclinations.
