Shipping would be more economical than driving to pick it up, eh?
knave - I think a 10" saw is the most versatile size. Can use it to trim/slab by hand if you have mask and/or ventilation. Blades .040" or less will flex quite a bit on a 10" saw, so I usually use a Hot Dog (.050") for that.
Have done hand-slabbing on a refurb HP with a .040" 303 on it. That's how I know about the flexing. Usually use that saw for smaller rough with the gravity feed vise.

Thank you Vince. Finally got oil into it tonight. The thing runs super quiet and works like a charm. It even has auto stop.

I rescued this one from a roadside junk sale for $20. This one needs some serious help to be resurrected. Now THATS a steal! Wow.

Does it have the word Star on top of the axle housing?

knave it does have star on the top of the arbor. Really you got a far better deal, mine needs to be completely taken apart for major rust removal. The former owners used kerosene as a blade lubricant so i’ll Probably need to replace the bearings also. Sounds like a fun project. This saw was and is using Pella oil. Hopefully that’s ok.

Picked up the grinder yesterday, it’s a Beacon Star HOLIDAY 6” with no saw and space for 6 wheels. Currently has 2 hard SiC wheels and an expando, with a flat lap on each end. Seems to be very heavily built, and it’s in great shape.

@jadedivision The Beacon Star slab saw should clean up nicely. Rust is only important in critical areas. Given enough mineral oil the rest will just become less obvious. Start with a new blade, a bit of elbow grease with steel wool and go from there. Beacon Star equipment is good quality.
