Make sure to keep the water up and it shouldn't be a problem. Don't push too hard. let the diamonds in the blade do the work.

What pauls said. Be aware that obsidian is basically glass and it will chip and the little shards will be razor sharp. Be very careful not to cut yourself while you're cutting it.
