A while back I bought a couple of pounds of number 2 Laguna agate from The Gem Shop. I had dreams of a tumbler filled with purple and pink banded agate. Well... That isn't exactly what I received so I took my lemons and have been cutting polishing and tumbling them. To my surprise, I'm every bit as happy with what I got as I would have been with the more traditional Laguna's. Here it's one of my favorites. This one was a very ugly rock from the outside. I had to use my tile saw to cut off all of the spikey crust all around it to reveal something interesting inside. It's been several weeks tumbling and all of these wonderful pom pom inclusions were exposed. I pulled it out of the tumbler and I'm hand polishing it the rest of the way because the inclusions were undercutting. There were several other winners in the batch that I cut and trimmed before I tumbled. I'll post the pictures as I get them polished up.

Well, I managed to get another Laguna specimen polished. It has a cool pattern but was very fractured. The inside almost reminds me of a thunderegg.

I would say you definitely made some lemonade out of those lemons!
