I found this guy mixed in with a bucket of small rocks. When I first saw the stripey flow like patterns, I thought of lava, but a closer look makes me think it is a fossil. It is about 2.25 by 1.5 inches in size. Any experts out there that can ID what kind of fossil it is? Thanks! First 2 pics show it dry, top and side views: IMG_0518 by Shiny Objects, on Flickr IMG_0519 by Shiny Objects, on Flickr Rest of the pics show it wet. Top, bottom, and the 2 sides: IMG_0522 by Shiny Objects, on Flickr IMG_0526 by Shiny Objects, on Flickr IMG_0525 by Shiny Objects, on Flickr IMG_0523 by Shiny Objects, on Flickr

Looks like stuff from Alabama. It should polish about like a petoskey stone.

Thanks for the info lookatthat and rmf! I never thought about polishing it! I wonder if that circular pattern shown on the 1st side pic goes all the way thru? Would make a pretty cool looking cab! But I think I will leave it as is for now.
