It has been awhile since I posted any slab pics. Here are 2 slabs from a chunk I cut the other day. Looks like confetti frozen in a rock! Anyone seen something like this and can provide a name? Some of the areas that don't have so much confetti are somewhat translucent so I've been calling it confetti agate. 2 different slabs, shown wet: IMG_0517 by Shiny Objects, on Flickr IMG_0516 by Shiny Objects, on Flickr

There really is a party going on in there! Sorry, I can't provide a name, just admiration for the slab!

It does look like old stock Confetti Agate from Chihuahua, Mexico. Used to see it pretty frequently at shows back in the 1970s but seldom see it anymore. I think I still have a couple of small slabs of it stashed around here somewhere. I've always though it was a cool looking material! Sam Silverhawk has shown some nice examples of cabs of Mexican Confetti Agate in recent years.
I've tried to post a link to the images of Silverhawk's cabs of this material but can't get it to post properly. So just do a search for "Sam Silverhawk Confetti Agate" and then click on images.

I did the search and the confetti agate pics look very similar to my slabs, so perhaps that is what I have. The rough came from a guy who used to sell rough and slabs back in the 80's. His inventory was filling up his basement for 20+ years before he decided to unload it all to clear thing out. It does look like old stock Confetti Agate from Chihuahua, Mexico.
