First, the disclaimer. This might be an odd or dumb question. 😁
How do you know when your blade is getting gunked up/dull on a slab saw? Since you can’t see it, do you listen for pitch change with the cut? Or for the motor to be working harder? I’m guessing there is something that triggers giving it some love before the blade seizes.

I'm no expert, but for me it is hearing the motor working harder. But by the time I realize it is working harder, I usually get to the next level which is the blade binding in the cut and if I am lucky, the circuit breaker trips, or if I'm less lucky the drive belt starts burning because the blade is no longer turning, but the motor shaft is!

Noiefish, there are three checks that are easy to make: 1. Rub a finger nail edge against the front edge-should feel gritty-if not cut old fire brick or 80 grit grinding wheel several times. 2. Make sure the cutting edge is not rounded but is flat to the side-swedge if necessary, 3. Make sure the blade is not dished and the blade is aligned to the cut.
